Topic:  Alopecia Areata

     Alopecia areata is a disease that causes sudden hair loss or bladness.  Areata means "occurring in patches."  The disease usually affects the scalp but can affect the rest of the body as well.  Most scientists believe alopecia areata is an autoimmune disease.
